One of the most important things a coach does is “evoke awareness” for the client. The ICF describes two kinds of awareness: awareness about the issue (“what”) and awareness about the client (“who”). Both are important.
Beginner coaches tend to struggle to help the client come up with their own awareness of any sort. Better coaches support new awareness, but mostly about the issue at hand. Mature, professional-level coaches support new awareness about the issue and about the client as a person.
This month’s focus in the CAM Community of Coaches is on coaching the person. This is something Christian coaches especially desire since it leads to deep change, growth, and transformation. If you missed the Member Webinar, be sure to check out the recording here on the member website!
